HP: There are likely to quickly improve the performance of plate to fill the PC industry recession? Seems they are waiting inside for the plate and a clear plan for Palm.

Acer: really branched out into flat-panel business, but hard to ignore the combination of its PC business.

Bubble:

IT news:

On December 7, according to foreign media reports, in accordance with the current pace of development, Acer is expected to over the Hewlett-Packard within two years and the world’s largest PC maker.

Currently, HP is still the world’s largest PC maker, but in two years whether it can continue to maintain the leading position is still uncertain. Research firm iSuppli released figures last week and showed that in the third quarter of this year, Acer has replaced Dell as the world’s second-largest PC maker.

Acer’s PC shipments for the third quarter is 10.7 million units, down from HP’s 15.9 million units, but the rise was as high as 16.6%, while HP’s is only 7%. In accordance with its pace, in two years Acer will be the number at this speed

As early as October, IDC and Gartner have said beyond the third quarter Acer was the world’s second-largest PC maker. IDC data show that Acer market share of 14%, Dell 12.7%, while HP’s 20.2%.

Acer chairman JT Wang said last month, in order to strengthen the PC business, Acer will launch a new round of mergers and acquisitions operations, and is currently negotiating with potential targets.

In August 2007, Acer has announced 710 million U.S. dollars acquisition of Gateway, in order to think out of the top three.
