4. Remove any unused PC Cards or USB devices from your notebook

5. Disable Wireless LAN or Bluetooth network adapter when not in use

Almost all notebooks today utilize rechargeable Lithium-ion (Li-Ion) batteries. Lithium Ion provides many benefits over earlier Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) or Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) Batteries, including less mass, better performance, and insusceptibility to the so-called “memory effect”. Despite these benefits you can maximize your battery’s lifespan by following these maintenance tips:
1. New batteries must be fully charged before use
To put your battery in optimum condition for long-term usage, please fully charge the battery before its first use. Very importantly as well, for the first 3 charge cycles, always fully charge before use and fully discharge before recharging.
2. Calibrate the battery every few months
Almost all laptop batteries are created with an internal microprocessor, which provides an estimate of battery conditions such as number of charges, discharges, full charge capacity and cycle charge count. The full charge capacity will become a little inaccurate after a few months and calibrating it can help restore the battery’s performance.
Some notebooks provide calibration tools in the BIOS or a Windows application. If your notebook provides either of them, you can follow these three steps prior to calibration:
1. Plug in your notebook’s power adapter and fully charge your battery.
2. When your battery is fully charged, disconnect the power adapter and use your notebook in battery mode. Disable all battery warning operations in Power Options Properties such as Shut down, Stand-by or Hibernation. When the remaining power is 3%, close all running application and allow the notebook to shut itself down.
3. Plug your power adapter in and fully charge your battery. Your battery has been sufficiently drained for calibration.
3. Use your battery in the proper conditions
Generally speaking, batteries work best at around 68°F (20°C), but temperatures between 32° to 95°F (0° to 35°C) will allow a battery to works in good condition too. Allowing your battery to work in conditions that are too hot or cold can lower its performance. It may also have a negative influence on the battery’s lifespan as well.
4. Store your battery in the proper conditions when not in use
If you don’t plan to use your notebook for a month or more, we recommend the battery be stored separately in a clean, dry and cool place. Please also ensure that the battery has about a 70% charge remaining. During storage the battery will perform a slow self-discharge, so we do not recommend storing it for a very long time (3 months or more), because it can impact the wellbeing of the battery.
Other Information:
Higher capacity battery or spare batteries
Some notebooks may be offered with an option on a higher capacity battery, which may also be offered as a separate purchase. You can take advantage of both to extend your notebook’s unplugged time.
Replace the battery
A battery that has been cared for properly should provide at least 300 full charge and discharge cycles. You can choose to purchase a replacement battery when your original battery longer is no longer able to serve you properly. The main symptom of this is a much shorter runtime even after calibration.
Battery recycling
Please do not dispose of old laptop battery in the rubbish bin as they can pollute the environment. Batteries should be recycled or collected for safe disposal through your local municipal or commercial programs.

Nokia will recall 14 million chargers in the global

According to foreign media reports, Nokia announced to global recall 14 million defective chargers produced by the sub-contractors at Monday.

(James Etheridge), Nokia spokesman James Etheridge, said the recall involves the global charger is about 14 million, the company will replacement these battery chargers that could cause electric shock for free.  Nokia said that at present no related accidents and injuries caused by these chargers are received. Ethridge said the recall does not involve China, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Argentina and other parts of the country.

 Ethridge pointed out that the defective charger models are AC-3E, and AC-3U which produced during June 15 and August 9, as well as AC-4U produced during April 13 and October 25. AC-3E AC-3E charger is mainly devoted to the European market, the other two chargers are mainly exported to North America and Latin America. 。 Three chargers are produced by the sub-contractors BYD.

Microsoft announced the latest version of Windows 7 Program in Europe

Microsoft will no longer provide spin-off Windows 7 E version of updated from IE8 for Europe, but plans to provide a browser “select interface” for users in Europe in the system, Microsoft’s versions of Windows 7 in Europe  was further described, involving the full version , upgrade version and the family package.

I used to be have a Canon A200 (200 million pixels) which is using a 2 V battery many years ago. But the trouble of this digital camera is that the battery alarm, unable to boot-strap. 

The major reasons are:

1. Ni-MH battery self-discharge. Self-discharge is serious, the battery baven’t been used for some time, resistance is greater, a number of voltage drop, the camera will not crash on opening.
2.Battery alarm is caused by the self-reson of camera. Some people say that this is the design of Canon cameras, I would like some of the reasons for it, Canon’s camera really is designed for alkaline batteries. However, at the situation of low voltage, the current of camera is too much, for various reasons (such as contact resistance) are caused by the bad use of rechargeable batteries. In fact, the most suitable for this camera should be used in alkaline batteries (it should be said that the camera is designed for alkaline batteries, ordinary alkaline batteries in general as well), 1.5V Voltage, 2 3V. Ni-MH battery only a 1.2V, it is much lower.

To solve the problem:

It is best you change the camera, replaced with one using lithium battery, 3.7V, but this is unrealistic, I am not rich.

High-voltage lithium, small current, the impact of contact resistance will be smaller;

Low self-discharge of lithium, put it out of using for some time, there is nothing spoilage. This is very important. 

Then let’s make a fake battery, which it installed a diode buck! Become equivalent to the market 3V lithium power. 
OK, hands started to do so, a battery 14500 lithium-hole mounted (DLG, and failed to protect the plate, only 3.6V, 700mAH), another hole pretend cell batteries (LED).

It’s very difficult to make the fake batteries, I had made one, but it’s a string of two diodes, have 1.1V drop, but I am feeling good. In general much better than used to be, the battery alarm issue is done and the situation that can not open the camera have not happened again.
